Rigid plastic materials

Hard plastics are a versatile category of plastic materials characterized by their rigid structure and durability.  Some of the most common hard plastics include acrylic, polycarbonate, and polyethylene terephthalate (PET).  These materials are often used when strength, rigidity, and impact resistance are required.

Hard plastics maintain their solid shape even under applied stress and have high resistance to scratches and deformation.  Their rigid molecular structure is what gives them their hardness and durability.  This makes them ideal for applications like containers, mechanical parts, consumer goods, and medical devices.

Elastomer/Rubber molded materials:

Elastomers, also known as rubbers, are polymeric materials that have high elasticity and flexibility.  Some common elastomers used in manufacturing include natural rubber, silicone, neoprene, and polyurethane.  Elastomers have an amorphous molecular structure which allows them to undergo high reversible deformations.

When force is applied, elastomer molecules slide past each other, causing the material to deform.  When the force is removed, the molecules return to their random, entangled state, allowing the elastomer to regain its original shape.  This gives elastomers their characteristic rubber-like stretchiness and shock-absorbing properties.
