Six common metal surface treatment technologies

For metals, in order to improve the use performance of metals, manufacturers will improve the surface treatment of metals. In our daily life, the common metal surface treatment technologies are: pickling purification treatment, electrolytic polishing treatment, degreasing and rust removal treatment, electroplating treatment and chemical treatment. The following is a detailed explanation of the six metal surface treatment technologies of China Standard Parts.

Pickling and passivation treatment:

It refers to that the process can be completed by immersing metal parts in pickling and passivation solution until the workpiece surface becomes uniform and silvery white. It is not only simple to operate, but also low in cost. The pickling and passivation solution can be used repeatedly.

Electrolytic polishing:

Technology refers to electrolytic polishing, also known as electrochemical polishing, which refers to the process of placing the workpiece in an energized solution to improve the flatness of the metal workpiece surface and make it shiny. Almost all metals can be electropolished, such as stainless steel, carbon steel, titanium, aluminum alloy, copper alloy, nickel alloy, etc., but stainless steel is the most widely used. The micro geometric shape of the metal surface is improved and the roughness of the metal surface is reduced through the combined action of the positive and negative current and the electrolytic polishing solution, so as to achieve the purpose of bright and smooth surface of the workpiece.

Oil and rust removal:

The oil stain, rust stain and other dirt on the workpiece surface generally need to be cleaned before passivation treatment or electrolytic polishing treatment. According to different workpiece processing conditions, neutral oil remover (CA-Q02) and stainless steel cleaner (CA-Q03) can be recommended.

Chemical polishing:

No equipment is needed at all, just immerse the metal parts in the chemical polishing solution until the surface is as bright as new to complete the process. Such as copper chemical polishing, aluminum chemical polishing, etc.

Electroplating:

This is the traditional process with the most choices, such as chrome plating, nickel plating, gold plating, silver plating, etc., but electroplating is not environmentally friendly, which has been vigorously attacked and banned by the national environmental protection department. Surface protection content: electroplating, coating, chemical treatment layer; Electroplating includes (galvanization, copper, chromium, lead, silver, nickel, tin, cadmium, etc.); Coating includes (paint coating, electrostatic powder spraying, plastic spraying process);

Chemical treatment includes: (blackening treatment, phosphating treatment).

On the other hand, the surface modification of metals, also known as surface optimization, is to change the composition, structure and properties of the material surface and near surface by means of new technologies such as ion beam, laser, plasma, etc., so as to obtain new thin layer materials that cannot be obtained by traditional metallurgy and surface treatment technologies, or make traditional materials have better performance. Modern advanced surface modification technologies mainly include physical vapor deposition (PVD), chemical vapor deposition (CVD), plasma chemical vapor deposition (PCVD), ion implantation and ion beam deposition.
