The numerical control electric discharge machining is to use the moving fine metal wire as the tool electrode, pass the pulse current between the metal wire and the workpiece, and use the electric corrosion of the pulse discharge to cut the workpiece. This kind of processing has the characteristics of high precision of parts, suitable for the processing of plane complex shape parts, flexible application, short processing cycle and material saving. Next, we will specifically introduce the characteristics of CNC WEDM.
At present, in the research and development of new products, a large number of CNC wire cutting technology are used to directly cut parts, which shortens the research and development cycle. However, no matter how advanced the machine tool is, if it does not pay attention to the processing technology and operation skills, and does not make the process reasonable, it can not efficiently process high-quality workpieces. Therefore, in the actual operation process, we must pay attention to the relevant processing technology.
Characteristics of NC WEDM
With the popularization of numerical control WEDM, WEDM has gradually shifted from the single blanking die processing to the processing of all kinds of molds, complex precision molds and other parts, making its application more and more extensive.
CNC wire cutting has the common character of EDM. The hardness and toughness of metal materials do not affect its processing. WEDM is mainly used to process quenched steel and hard alloy; At present, the vast majority of WEDM machines are controlled by digital programs. The process characteristics are as follows:
1. It is used to process complex shaped workpieces that are difficult or impossible to be processed by ordinary cutting methods, such as punch, concave convex die and precision parts with complex shapes.
2. Unlike EDM, which needs to manufacture tool electrodes with specific shapes, copper wires or molybdenum wires with different diameters are used as tool electrodes. Therefore, the cutting tool is simple and the production preparation time is greatly reduced.
3. The diameter of the electrode wire is small (0.025-0.3mm), and the slit is very narrow, which is not only conducive to the utilization of materials, but also suitable for processing small parts.
4. The electrode wire is movable in the process of machining, and it can be continuously updated (slow walking wire) or repeatedly used (fast walking wire). The influence of electrode wire loss on machining accuracy can be completely or for a short time.
5. Depending on the computer to calculate and control the electrode wire trajectory and the offset trajectory, the fitting clearance of the convex and concave die can be adjusted conveniently, and the one-time processing of the convex and concave die can be realized by the taper cutting function.
