1. Installation method of framework oil seal in shell hole

When assembling the skeleton oil seal, check whether the inner wall is free of debris, scratches, dust and casting sand. Use special tools to smoothly push the skeleton oil seal into the housing seating hole.

2. Installation of framework oil seal on shaft

The inner diameter of the skeleton oil seal is usually smaller than the shaft diameter, forming a certain amount of interference, which is easy to cause lip damage when assembling the skeleton oil seal. In order to prevent damage, generally use conical shoulder or conical tooling to assemble the skeleton oil seal.   

When there are threads, grooves and splines on the shaft, it is invalid to assemble the skeleton oil seal with the conical shaft shoulder. Instead, it is necessary to use special assembly tools to protect the lip of the skeleton oil seal, that is, a protective sleeve is placed on the threads, grooves and splines to prevent the lip of the skeleton oil seal from being damaged by the sharp corners, threads, grooves and splines on the shaft.

3. Installation procedures of framework oil seal and precautions during assembly

a. The framework oil seal shall be kept clean from receiving to assembly. Before the framework oil seal is installed, the packaging paper shall not be torn off prematurely to prevent sundries from adhering to the surface of the framework oil seal and being brought into the work.  

b. Before the assembly of the framework oil seal, the machining inspection procedure shall be completed, and the dimensions of each part of the framework oil seal shall be consistent with the dimensions of the shaft and the cavity. The end faces of the shaft and the cavity shall be processed smoothly, the chamfering shall be free of damage and burr, and the assembly parts shall be cleaned. The shaft and seat hole shall be machined with 15 ° – 30 ° assembly chamfer, especially the internal chamfer, and there shall be no slope. It is recommended that the assembly part of the framework oil seal seal adopt fillet chamfer. There shall be no burr, sand, iron scraps and other sundries at the installation (chamfering) of the shaft to prevent accidental damage to the lip of the framework oil seal. The inner dimension of the cavity shall be suitable for the outer diameter and width of the skeleton oil seal.  

c. Check whether the lip of the skeleton oil seal is complete, check whether the lip of the skeleton oil seal is damaged and deformed, and whether the spring of the skeleton oil seal is peeled off and rusted, so as to prevent the skeleton oil seal from being damaged by external force extrusion and impact during transportation.

d. If the framework oil seal has oil return line, the relationship between the installation direction and rotation direction of the framework oil seal shall be determined first.   

e. During the assembly of the framework oil seal, a proper amount of cleaning oil paste such as lithium-based ester added with molybdenum disulfide shall be applied between the lips of the framework oil seal to prevent the shaft from causing dry abrasion on the lips of the framework oil seal and affecting the interference of the lips of the framework oil seal when the shaft is started instantaneously. The surface of the lip contact part of the skeleton oil seal seal shall not have organic thread marks. During assembly, apply sealant on the outer ring of the skeleton oil seal, wrap the key groove or step on the shaft with hard paper, etc., to avoid scratching or rolling the lip of the skeleton oil seal, or use special tools such as guide transition sleeve to rotate and press the skeleton oil seal inward. Do not hit or punch hard to prevent the skeleton of the skeleton oil seal from deforming or breaking the spring of the skeleton oil seal. If the lip of the framework oil seal is turned, the spring falls off and the framework oil seal is skewed, the framework oil seal must be removed and reinstalled.

f. Use special installation tools correctly to protect the lip of the skeleton oil seal from damage. Even slight scratches are not allowed, otherwise it is easy to cause leakage of the skeleton oil seal. It is recommended to use oil pressure equipment or sleeve tools for installation. The pressure need not be too high and the speed should be uniform.  

g. When the framework oil seal is installed into the shell, it shall be carried out with uniform pressure and shall not be inclined to avoid deformation of the outer circle of the framework oil seal.

h. Pay attention to the installation direction when assembling the framework oil seal. When internal sealing is required, the side of the framework oil seal with self tightening spring (i.e. the side with groove) faces the inside of the box, and the dust lip faces outward.
